SPM -Supply Point Monitor
• Built in collaboration with SSE Power Distribution
• Measures and reports power quality
• Rapid deployment retro fit feature allows installation in less than 3 minutes
• Utilizes existing GPRS data infrastructure
• TCP/IP enabled with SSL security
• Enables fast scalability never previously available to supply operators.
• Can be re-used and re-deployed saving cost to supplier
The Supply Point Monitor, (SPM) device has been designed to enable the remote collection of electricity data from endpoints. It benefits from a rapid installation time (typically under two minute), software configurable functions, remote firmware updates and easy to use communications software.
It has been designed to take into consideration the needs of the DNOs (Distribution Network Operators) and has also designed to be capable of meeting all the SMETS2 requirements so, with the addition of an optional display unit; it can be transformed into a fully functioning smart meter.
To operate the deployed SPM units in the field, Senical has designed and written complete software architecture to operate and manage the data flow.

RAV - Remote Asset Viewer
• Low cost AMR solution for any type of remote meter reading.
• Installation time is less than 1 minute.
• Standalone unit that runs from standard AA size batteries.
• Provides a low cost interim solution also
• Rapid return of the business and customer benefits associated with AMR
The RAV AMR has been designed with simplicity and cost in mind, and can be deployed rapidly using a non-technical workforce. There is no requirement to modify or adapt the meter configuration and after installation, the readings and dials are still viewable.
In essence, the RAV unit is able to take an image of the meter it is attached to – analogue or digital - at very close range. The image is then returned to base in MMS (multimedia message service) format where it is read and decoded by Senical's proprietary optical recognition (OCR) software. The extrapolated data is then converted into a digital format where it can be incorporated into any architecture in use by the host.
For gas billing, it is viable to include a raw image with timestamp into the paper/electronic bill as proof of reading.
The end to end functionality provides an effective system to deploy and operate for users with a requirement for 'smart data', but at a fraction of the cost of actual smart metering.

Azalea Smart Meter
The Azalea is a rapid deployment, extensible, smart meter device capable of being deployed in unmetered situations such as street lighting, and within domestic installations. The device has been designed to meet the SMETS requirements of a robust smart metering solution - with a clear business advantage, the fastest installation time of any domestic smart meter solution.
Azalea Smart Meter - Key Features
- Fast installation, set-up and test time
- Fully configurable in firmware for different meter scenarios
- Remote firmware updates
- Simple full colour user interface
About The Azalea Smart Meter
The product was originally created primarily to offer a unique advantage in the rollout of smart metering, giving suppliers the ability to cut their deployment time down by up to 75%.
Unlike other smart meter technology, the Azalea smart meter does not require a meter decommissioning exercise as it simply replaces the domestic fuse in the existing cutout, meaning that the existing wiring and boarding remains intact. Not only does this ensure minimal disruption to the consumer, but waste products as a result of installation are also minimised, allowing for a leaner, greener rollout of this exciting technology.
Each unit can typically be installed, configured and tested in less than five minutes, a huge saving on more traditional installations.
The Azalea smart meter is an extensible unit designed to be flexible, all of its features can be configured remotely, including firmware updates. It can switch from a credit to a prepayment configuration in a moment and can have prepayment units allocated remotely, allowing for a huge range of payment options, from over the counter to SMS micro payments.
With built in Bluetooth capabilities, the Azalea smart meter can also be configured to talk to a wide range of remote information display and capture devices, or any of its internal information can be configured for display on the built in full colour screen. An intuitive multi-function button entry system also ensures the consumer can navigate its menu structures as simply as using an MP3 player.
The Azalea smart meter communicates using the proven and reliable GPRS (mobile phone) network. Using SMS messages for day to day activities such as requesting readings, and utilising 3G data communications for firmware upgrades, keeps communication costs to a minimum and does not require the investment and ownership costs of data collector and transporter networks. A firmware option is available to utilise TCP/IP over a VPN.
As well as the capabilities of a smart meter in a unit just the size of a mobile phone, the Azalea smart meter can also talk directly to its sister product, the RAV Automated Meter Reader from Senical. This means you can deploy smart metering capability for electricity networks, and AMR for gas networks for not much extra cost. The RAV AMR has also been designed for rapid deployment and can be installed in under a minute.
